Zombie Cucumber is a busy backpackers lodge located in the vibrant coastal town of Vilanculos. It has been open for almost 8 years and during this time has gained an excellent reputation for providing comfortable and affordable accommodation, first rate cuisine and meeting the needs of guests.
Hostel
The hostel is centrally located, just off the main beach road, 50m from the beach itself. It is a ten minute walk to the centre of town and close to restaurants, bars and shops.
The property is approximately 4000m2 and also included is an additional 1200m2 which has yet to be developed.
Guest Accommodation
The hostel has 4 double chalets built of block with thatch roofing. Each room has a large mosquito net, fan, shelving unit and all bedding is provided. The dormitory provides budget accommodation for up to twelve people. The dormitory is a mixture of concrete and local materials, with a thatched roof. Mosquito nets, sleeping mats and mattresses are provided, together with sheet, pillow with case and blanket.
Ablutions
The ablution block is constructed from modern materials.
Bar and Restaurant
The bar/restaurant is centrally located within the property. It is a rondaval constructed from traditional and modern materials and is approximately 60m2. It provides an informal, friendly area for relaxation and ample seating for guest capacity.
Kitchen and Storage
The kitchen is a separate rondaval close to the bar/restaurant. The kitchen is well equipped.
Manager's Accommodation
The manager's house is situated in the corner of the property. It is a large chalet constructed with traditional and modern materials and has a veranda. There is an ensuite bathroom and dressing area.
Gardens and Parking Area
The hostel is set in beautiful grounds which have been extensively landscaped.
Swimming Pool and Lapa
The swimming pool was built more recently. It is fully tiled and salt water and behind the pool, a large, thatched lapa.
Utilities
Water is supplied from a borehole, which provides a constant supply of sweet water.
The hostel is connected to mains power, which is metered. There is also a back-up generator.
Communications
The hostel has a land line telephone and has Broadband internet connection.
Financial Information
Financial details will not be disclosed unless a potential buyer proves in a position to purchase.
The business has proved popular and is highlighted in a number of international tourist guides and various websites. The owners and manager have worked hard to build up the reputation of the lodge and therefore comes with a large amount of goodwill.
The paperwork is up to date.
The current staff would be happy to continue in employment, the majority of whom have worked for the business since it opened. Staff loyalty is a great bonus!
