Casa Mariposa Blanca or House of the White Butterfly was once part of the XVI century Franciscan monastery of the Cathedral of Cuernavaca. Many original features of the colonial times are present in this house, from stone floors, stairs, niches, tiles, doors and chimneys. Family Treviño (present owners) have maintained the charm of this house by furnishing it with typical Mexican furniture, handicrafts, paintings, talavera tiles, antiques and lots of flower pots and greenery. The house is located right in the middle of the historic centre of Cuernavaca on a small cobbled street, recently renamed after a local painter: Calle “Jorge Cazares”. The house faces south and is in between of the Bishop’s residence and the well-known Brady Museum or Casa de la Torre (the old observatory of the XVI century Cathedral). In front of the house is a small park called: Jardin Revolucion and behind the house is the Cathedral. Most cultural attractions of downtown Cuernavaca are just a few steps away, such as: XVI century Cathedral and the group of old churches, Brady Museum (our neighbor), Cortez Palace, Museum of Cuahunahuac, Cuernavaca City Museum, Borda Gardens, Zocalo or Main Square.
