Private, safe mountain getaway for those seeking a slower paced lifestyle, retirement or an excellent vacation spot. Our home is located in Pilangosta, a small, quiet village 20 min. outside of Nicoya. Our town is very safe, there is no crime and it is possible to sleep with the windows & doors open at night, and be able to travel, knowing your belongings are safe at home; unlike at many beach towns, where most houses have bars on their windows and tall barbed wire fences around their properties. The house is surrounded by lush vegetation, pastures & rolling hills, yet is conveniently located and very close to a gas station, supermarkets, bakery, butchers, pharmacy, post office, gift shops, clothing stores, pizzeria, restaurants, vet, hardware stores, a park, church, dentists, clinic, hospital, internet café, video store, liquor stores, ice cream shop, a public pool and recreation center and daily direct buses to Nicoya and the capital city San Jose. We have two international airports, one in Liberia, about 1 hr 15 min away and the other in San Jose, about 3 hrs 30 min away. A few minutes down the road is the Monte Alto National Reserve with great hiking trails. The beaches, Playa Carrillo & Playa Samara are a 35 min. scenic drive away and are clean, unspoiled and picture perfect. Our area sits in the Blue Belt, which has been mention on National Geographic. The town is very well maintained and clean. The 225m2 house was appraised at $325,000 in March 2011 and our taxes are less than $100 a year. We have internet connection, telephone, satellite TV, our own well with high pressure tank on the property and do not depend on public water and we have our own 25KV transformer, no other neighbors are attached to. This house was build with all modern conveniences, custom kitchen with granite counters, stainless steel self cleaning and convection oven, dishwasher and refrigerator and a double sink with gooseneck faucet. We have a high efficiency front loader washing machine and clothes dryer in the laundry room and ceramic flow-thru water heater. I also made sure we have a bathtub in the house, which most homes here do not have. We have a dual tank septic system with a 100' long drain field. We used the Superbloque building system to construct this home and used steel beams in the roof instead of wood for additional stability & longevity.
