Perfectly restored castle with medieval origins in stunning panoramic position. With spectacular views over the Trasimeno Lake and the Val Di Chiana valley, this enchanting old property is conveniently situated with the main towns of Umbria as well as of Tuscany. Although the castle is located in hillside, rather secluded position, it takes just 10
minutes to get to Cortona, 30 min. to the International Airport of Perugia
and about 1 h. to Florence.
Its construction goes back to the year 802 and in the middle of 1500 it was
transformed from a military fortress to an aristocratic residence. The
castle maintains its traditional circled shape with the old crenellated
surrounding wall, loopholes and moat, and its evocative exterior appereance.
All the buildings are in stone and provide overall 28 rooms and 11
bathrooms. They consist of a main palace, a guest house, a lovely one aisle
church made of sandstone and cotto, an old dungeon and a car port, that
occupy altogether about 1800 square meters.
The castle covers approx. 490 square meters plus 271 square meters of loft
space, currently unfinished. The house is divided in 5 levels and provides a
big hallway and a generous wine cellar measuring 130 square meters, set in
the basement. The castle is has two guest bathrooms, a storage
room/laboratory and the house keeper's apartment on the ground floor, while the first and second floor contains the owners apartment with kitchen,
living room, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and utility rooms. On the third floor
there is a spacious library.
Another apartment has been built on the ground floor and consists of a
kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom for service staff.
The guest house measures about 306 square meters divided in 4 independent
apartments, each with private entrance. The apartments provide a total of 7
bedrooms. One of the apartments is set in the old watching turret and is
currently used as studio apartment.
The Church (of Saint Nicholas) dates back to the 1230 and is still
consacrated.
The car port has an area of 85 square meters and accommodate up to 5 cars.
In the sale also a 23 square meters tool shed and a shelter of about 40
square meters are included.
Recently the owners have got the permission to build another house of
approx. 200 square meters outside the castle's walls and another one inside
with swimming pool.
The land: The property has a private garden of 1500 square meters and about 13 ha of land with olive groves and woodland with pines, oaks and cypresses.
The electrical system is completely new. The heating runs on gas and is
independent for each apartment. There is also a private 100 m. deep drinking
water well.
