The villa is one of the few available in Corfu that is truly luxurious. Very private and secluded, it nevertheless has wonderful, open sea views and easy access to at least two beaches, via a private pathway connecting with the local coastal footpath. A great deal of thought has gone into creating surroundings in which guests will be able to lay aside their normal daily routines and live a truly pampered holiday experience.
The sea is ever-present, a shimmering natural backdrop to the symmetry of the garden and pool, a gentle lullaby at night.
A huge sitting room, with the steeply pitched, beamed roof so typical of the Caribbean forms the natural focus of the house. With one whole wall of windows, it opens on to a wide covered verandah that is no less comfortably furnished than the sitting-room, both having large sofas and some intriguingly exotic ornaments and artifacts. The view from here has been compared to that from the deck of a luxury cruise ship, and the maritime theme continues in the wonderful and very unusual outdoor dining area, where a massive Moroccan-style cushioned seating arrangement and table are shaded by a lofty sail and the effect is that of dining in the stern of a super-yacht.
It is this attention to the details of relaxing in style that make Bequia so special. The magnificent Master double bedroom is dominated by a huge silver-leaf sleigh bed and the guest suites on the lower ground floor, with their own separate entrance, are each decorated in a different style, Indonesian, Moroccan, Shaker and Swedish. They open directly on to the beautiful lawns and pool area, and two of them have lovely curtained terraces. Designer touches are evident in the bathrooms, often to quirkily amusing effect, and in the superbly functional but elegant kitchen. Out of doors, acircular pavilion houses a well-equipped bar that is bound to become a favourite meeting point for guests, with its proximity to the pool, Sony free-standing sound system and full range of bar equipment. On the other side of the pool, another round pavilion houses a table and seating for al fresco meals cooked at the adjacent barbecue and outdoor kitchen area. The extensive gardens include mature olive trees from which oil is extracted and which ismade available for the use of guests during their stay.
The surroundings are extensive enough for people to lose themselves and retreat for some private relaxation, whether it is in the hidden Jacuzzi with its rainforest ambiance, or at the top of the fairytale stone tower, elevated above the tree-tops, cushioned and curtained for a night under the stars. It is this sense of fun and appreciation of the guest's need for 'getting away from it all' that distinguishes the villas of the Krouzeri Estate and sets them apart.
