Schoinoussa is a Greek island in the Cyclades. It is located south of Naxos and north east of Heraclea with warm hospitable people - just like all places that tourism and development haven't tarnished. It is a small, quiet, traditional island, making it a favorite vacation destination for ship-owners. Some of them have even built their summer villas there.
It is four hours by boat from Athens’ harbors, with only one ship arriving daily, twenty minutes from Paros and Naxos and about an hour from Santorini.
Its harbor, which is one of three settlements on the island, beautiful Mersini was once an old pirate hideout. Today the sheltered, windless harbor is considered one of the best havens for anchoring smaller boats in the Aegean Sea. The other two settlements are Schinoussa or Chora (Hora) and Messaria.
