Palace Berislavic in Trogir

Ad Details:
Berislavić palace was built in the second half of the 15th century. It was made by reconstruction of the even older romanesque houses. The palace has the ground floor and the two upper floors rich with striking Gothic features. In the Baroque period the attic was arranged as residential quarters.
Stand out features of the palace are the Gothic facade with luxurious mullion windows and the decorative Gothic coffered ceilings with carved wreath-shaped trilobes.
The most important feature of this house is that it was the birthplace of the famous viceroy Petar Berislavić (1475. - 1520.).
Who was Peter Ban Berislavić;
In 1503. he became the secretary and chancellor of King Vladislav II. Jagiellonian,
1512 he was appointed bishop of Veszprém in the Roman Catholic Church and the king's treasurer. He then became governor of the croatian templar knights (priorat vranski) , prefect of Dubica and captain of Senj.
In 1513th he was appointed governor of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia.
He became viceroy of Croatia from 1513 to 1520.
He is most known for being one of the leaders of the Croats during the Ottoman invasions into their territory. He is also said to have been an associate of the writer Marko Marulić.
In 1520. few hours after his death, Pope Leo X appointed the brave Ban Petar Berislavić cardinal not knowing that he was dead.
At the time of his viceroy Turks have not won any part of croatian territory.
Who was Peter Berislavić actually, best illustrates a quote of emperor Maximilian in 1568. "He has gained the greatest glory for his name by caring for the Veszprém diocese, the priorat vranski, the entire Hungarian kingdom and as viceroy of the Croatia , Dalmatia and Slavonia kingdom . By his glorious death in war he surpassed enemies and made the Turks against whom he fought inglourious. "
The palace needs restauration.

The archaeological survey of the entire ground floor and an architectural survey of the current situation has been carried out. Present project documentation:

Repairs made to the house – strengthening of the foundations, foundation grouting and concrete core beams to prevent lateral spreading and subsidence. To prevent the possibility of the collapse most of the walls have been crack injected. The first floor joists of wooden beams and lightweight aggregate concrete. A condominium subdivision and property registration; title deed is clean (1/1) for the land and building.
