Once you’ve taken the step towards social inclusion and decided to hire a neurodivergent worker, the first major consideration you’ll need to make is whether to hire them out right, or take them on a temporary contract basis. If you’re new to working with autistic adults, we strongly recommend a contracting model with Focus. You’ll share the risk of the new hire with a company who already knows how to support autistic workers in IT and technology fields. Working with us gives you time to acclimate to the new accommodations, and you’ll get unlimited access to our expertise in neurodivergence in the workplace throughout the contracted period. Once the time is up, you then have the option to start a new contract with the same hire, ask us to find someone new, or turn your contracted employee into a full time worker.
