No minimum balance needed.

Direct access to subsidies
Before the PMJDY scheme was launched, all government welfare subsidies (e.g. LPG subsidies) were obtained via cheques or cash; sometimes leading to fraud. The PMJDY ensures all subsidy payments are made directly to your bank account.
Easy money transfer
To foster inclusivity, the PMJDY has included mobile banking for all phones— not merely smartphones. Participating banks are connected by the core banking solution (CBS), which enables easier inter-bank transfers.
Need-based loans
Six months after handling a PMJDY account, you can obtain an overdraft facility of up to Rs.5000. On successful repayment, the loan limit might be raised to Rs.15,000, at your bank’s discretion.
Life insurance coverage
If you have opened the account prior to January 31st, 2015, and are the earning member of your family, you may qualify for life insurance coverage. On reaching particular eligibility criteria, your dependents can profit from life insurance of up to Rs.30,000.
Accidental insurance coverage
In the event of accidental death, it extends coverage of up to Rs.1 lakh, if there have been transactions on the account prior to the accident.
