The property is equipped with two “calefon” gas water heaters, one adjacent to each bathroom. There is also a gas heater installed in the living room.
On the street side of the property is a pretty pergola barbecue area with a charcoal barbecue kettle, and a convenient gas supply if you wish to install a gas BBQ. Above the gas storage, a large table top has been built for preparing or serving the BBQ ribs and the margaritas. Or you can simply relax and read in the swing seat, while you enjoy the morning sun.
The front of the house faces east, towards the morning sun. The hummingbird feeders are currently attracting three species, that will fight and romance with each other while you enjoy your morning coffee on the front porch. One couple is presently nesting in the bamboo hedge on the back fence.
An added bonus is that the house is pet friendly. Both the front door, and the security door are equipped with doggie doors, and the yard is fenced securely for small pets.
Internet access is high speed via a landline and home telephone service with CNT. A DirecTV service is installed as well, ready to be hooked up.
At the rear of the house, above the gas storage for the second Calefon, a potting table and tool storage has been built for the keen gardener.
For convenience, the buses for Ibarra, Otavalo, and some Quito buses stop in front of the property next door. The stop for buses going into Cotacachi is over the road, about 50 metres away.
The house has just been fully repainted inside, and was fully repainted outside a year ago. The street wall and side wall have also received a fresh coat of paint. It’s looking very pretty right now.
For people contemplating the move to Cotacachi, Ecuador from overseas, be assured that all you will need to move in here is your suitcases. And some peanut butter.
