A 93 hectare (approx. 230 acre) ranch about 10 minutes outside Comitan de Dominguez, Chiapas, a city with a population of about 100,000 and a little over an hour from the famous town of San Cristobal de las Casas. It is the last remaining vestige of a finca owned by the family of the national hero and martyr, Dr. Belisario Dominguez, and has been named a National Historic Monument by the Mexican government. There is a millhouse which was constructed about 1870 and a main house which was built in the 1920s during the revolution. The millhouse has a new kitchen and bath with a large upstairs bedroom and large downstairs greatroom. The main house has large rooms with high ceilings—a porch, dining room, sala, butler's pantry, kitchen, and two bedrooms. Both houses have the old thick 3-foot wide walls. Some renovation is needed. There is a large barn, an out building, sheds and pens for animals. There is electricity and a large water storage tank that is supplied from a community spring-fed pipe. Heating and cooling aren't needed as near perfect temperatures normally fluctuate between 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The ranch is comprised of a valley with surrounding mountains, a year-round stream that feeds two ponds, a canal system and millpond. A spring with year-round water creates another rushing creek during rainy season. About ⅔ of the land is forested mountains and the other ⅓ of the ranch is mostly flat, valley bottom pastures or fields. The elevation at the house is close to 1,615 meters above sea level and gets an estimated annual rainfall of 1.5 meters which makes it perfect for growing shade-grown coffee and avocados. With it's proximity to Comitan, it would be perfect for a guesthouse, restaurant and spa, as well as a working farm. The millpond would make a perfect swimming pool for guests and the extensive forest trails are great walking and horse riding paths.
