San Sisto is a beautiful borgo very close to the fascinating medieval town of Todi. The dwelling rises in an authentic medieval group of houses. Originally property of the church, it was used like a convent. The ancient small church collapsed in the XVII century after an earthquake. It was subsequently rebuilt, in the same century. After the departure of the nuns, the property was turned into a military watchtower.
Dated XIII century, the powerful stone walls of the borgo, dominate the Natural Park of River Tiber. The river itself flows quietly, rich of its glorious past, not too far from the villa. Todi, famous for its architecture, art and nature, is easily reachable from San Sisto. As a matter of fact, the town is only three kilometres far from the property.
The borgo of San Sisto is in an ideal position: surrounded by a charming nature it not prevents from being in a strategical area, close to every kind of facilities. The villa is perfectly connected to all the major highways. Wonderful towns, like Orvieto and Perugia, rise not far from the borgo. The countryside flourished all over around the property in a characteristic succession of green hills.
The house on offer, integrant part of the ancient borgo, was added in the XIX century. The property is the casa padronale (the manor house), and consists of a main structure, perfectly restored, and an independent agricultural annex, which can be converted and restored. The estate is surrounded by a large private garden, partly covered by old and beautiful mulberry trees, and maritime pines. The property also comprehends a solar panels complex.
The abode is divided into two floor. At the first floor there are two areas: a big and bright room, with wide windows that opens on the luxuriant green of the Tiber Valley; and another space with a bathroom annexed. At present, the first room is used as private painting studio. High ceilings give the room more air and beauty.
The second floor is reached by an impressive marble stair: when the big front door, at the top of an external landing, opens, an elegant stairway leads you to the rest of the house. High ceilings and decorations enrich all the structure: wall and ceiling patterns adorn the house. After an entrance hall there is a pretty and particular room used like a library, with a vaulted ceiling. Then there is a large and elegant living room with a bathroom and an arch that leads to a wide kitchen with a big stone fireplace. Everywhere there is a floor in typical terracotta tiles. A foyer is lightened by a window that opens on a delicious small terrace facing the Natural Park and Todi. The dining room is completely painted, the ceilings and walls adorned with blue and ochre decorations creating a trompe l’oeil effect. The structure also includes a bigger bathroom, and four wide bedrooms, one of which with a W.C. inside.
