Uttarakhand is known as the Devbhumi and religious chardham are situated here. Gangotri is one of Chardham and holds great importance among the devotees. Gangotri is a small town situated at an elevation of 3415 above the sea level. The temple is the highest temple where worshiped of Goddess Ganga is organised in India. Gaumukh Glacier is known as the origin point of Ganga River and offered the beautiful and attractive trekking of 18 km which attract thousans of the tourist. Its religious importance, Bhagirathi River, Snow capped Himalayas, green surrounding, pure and fresh Air, Pleasant environment and great fath makes the place more attractive and religious. Gangotri Temple was constructed by the Adi Shankaracharya in 8th century but the recent temple is made by the Gorkha Comander Amar Singh Thapa in 16th century. The town has rich history it is believed that Sage Bhagirathi do Penance to impress the Goddess Ganga for removes sins of their ancestors and want they get moksha. But Ganga had very powerful water force and earth was unable to ready accept Ganga force, than Lord Shiva ready to lock Ganga in his hair.
